PublicationMeasurement of the Z Invisible background for Stop Quark Searches in the All-Hadronic Channel at √s = 13 TeV( 2018) Abreu-Nazario, Andrés J. ; Malik, Sudhir ; College of Arts and Sciences - Sciences ; Méndez, Héctor ; Santana-Colón, Samuel ; Department of Physics ; Pérez, FernandoThe work presented in this thesis is aligned with the evolution of the CMS experiment. A simulation study is performed to determine the effect of HL-LHC Pixel Detector on stubs (matching hit pairs from the same particle track on two adjacent silicon layers of the modules in Outer Tracker) which is key to future possible BSM discoveries and SUSY in particular. A new method to measure the Z-invisible (Z→ νν) background for the stop quark searches in all-hadronic channel is presented. The method based on γ+jets provides an improvement over the method used for Z-invisible background in analysis presented here that searches for SUSY in the all-hadronic channel with missing transverse momentum and a customized top tagger. The data was collected by the CMS Detector from proton-proton collisions at the LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with an integrated luminosity of 35 fb−1 collected in 2016.
