This article attempts to calculate the economic value for an urban forest in a segment of a location on a main road in PR-3108 in the municipality of Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. To achieve this objective, a double bound contingent valuation was applied. Probit and bivariate probit models were applied to calculate the mean willingness to pay and to identify factors affecting willingness to pay. The sample consisted of 201 households from Miradero, Algarrobo y Mayaguez Terrace localities. Using the mean from the dichotomous choice question format, the aggregate benefit for the society for an urban forest is $224,892 per year. The study revealed that education, age, gender, and trial or greenway significantly affects the willingness to pay for an urban forest.
