Publication Percepción de los maestros y directores escolares de escuelas elementales del municipio de arecibo en relación a la integración de conceptos agrícolas al currículo de este nivel(2005) Saavedra Lugo, Janitza; Padilla Vélez, David; College of Agricultural Sciences; Villamil Freytes, José A.; González Nolla, Juan F.; Padilla Vélez, David; Department of Agricultural Education; de La Torre, WinstonThis study was an attempt to determine the perception of third grade teachers and school principals of the Educational District of Arecibo regarding the integration of agricultural concepts to the elementary schools curriculum. The descriptive survey method with the questionnaire technique was used in this study. Twenty three school principals and forty five teachers participated of this investigation. The data was collected using a valid and reliable questionnaire. The data analysis demonstrated that school principals have a higher knowledge of agriculture, meanwhile, teachers possess an acceptable knowledge of agriculture, and, both have a neutral perception of agriculture. Teachers are available for integrating agricultural concepts and they indicated that the science course is the appropriate one for this purpose. Teachers use agricultural concepts once a month and make activities of agricultural nature with their students. Teachers have a positive perception toward the integration of agricultural concepts to the elementary level curriculum, but, school principals have a negative perception toward this integration.
