The objectives of this project were to create a standard form from existing inspection checklists, conversion of this standard form to an electronic version usable on portable computers such as the iPad, and automating the construction inspection process for buildings. FileMaker® Pro and FileMaker® Go software were used to achieve these objectives. Though the intent of this project was to allow the use of the electronic version of the checklist on iPad devices, other iOS devices (iPhone and iPod Touch) may be used as well. The benefits from this project include: improved uniformity of the inspection process with a standard inspection checklist, improved efficiency in sharing and distributing construction inspection information to others, the ability to create and share inspection reports instantly, avoidance of errors in information from entering data twice, and minimizing the use the paper with the electronic version of the inspection checklist.
