Publication Modelo de simulación continua de escorrentía superficial y modelo de transporte de sedimentos para la cuenca del Río Grande de Loíza(2024-07-10) Lizarazo Casilimas, Andrés Felipe; Pérez Alegría, Luis R.; College of Engineering; Silva Araya, Walter F.; Zapata López, Raúl E.; Department of Civil Engineering; Martínez Rodríguez, Gustavo A.Modeling soil erosion and sediment transport is of vital importance to evaluate the impact of sediment transport in the Río Grande de Loíza Basin and how this impact the storage capacity of the Carraizo reservoir that distributes thirty percent (30%) of the drinking water to the San Juan Metropolitan Area. It is needed to have a knowledge of the sediments and how they affect the storage volume of the Carraizo reservoir and subsequent the distribution of drinking water to the population. To achieve the estimation of sediment transport in the Río Grande de Loíza Basin, the HEC-HMS version 4.11 program is used, which includes the platform the modified universal soil loss equation (MUSLE) and for the transport potential the Laursen-Copeland equation. In order to validate the simulated data, a global sensitivity analysis is used in which the following statistical values are compared: model efficiency coefficient (NSE), determination coefficient (R2) and percentage bias measure (PIBAS). The simulation period for this project is between January 1, 1990 to January 1, 1995, in which the transport of sediments in terms of clays, silts and sands are analyzed.
