Publication Estudio del comportamiento de una burbuja dentro del proceso de producción de biodiesel mediante mezclado ultrasónico(2004) Beltrán-Sampayo, Carlos J.; Portnoy, Arturo; College of Arts and Sciences - Sciences; Rózga, Krzysztof; Gooransarab, Haedeh; Department of Mathematics; Colucci, José A.Biodiesel is an environmental alternative to diesel. In its production process, it is necessary to mix alcohols and oils, inmiscible fluids. Ultrasonic mixing creates cavities or bubbles that implode (phenomenon during which the speed of the bubble wall reaches the speed of sound in the medium), generating local jets that mix. In this work, we concentrate on the analysis of a single bubble that receives an ultrasonic stimulus looking to find an approximation to the energy liberated by the imploding bubble and its life spam. This allows us, in theory, to distinguish, in terms of energy and life spam, the optimal frequencies, pressure amplitudes and initial radii, that is, those that correspond to violent implosions and short bubble life spasm. Also, we have found a priori lower bound on the radius, and a general method, useful in studying non autonomous dynamical systems. This lower bound is essential in the error analysis of the numerical methods used.
