Publication Estudio de magnetoresistencia y rotacion de faraday en Zn1− xCoxO(2006) Martínez-Valdés, Ricardo; Jiménez-González, Héctor J.; College of Arts and Science - Science; Fernández, Félix E.; Perales-Pérez, Oscar; Department of Physics; Sánchez, Halley D.The magnetoresistance behavior was determined and studied of the semiconducting compound Zn0.9 Co0.1O : Al / Glass for different temperatures, and Faraday Effect was studied in the ultraviolet region using magnetic fields until ± 40 KG to a temperature of 5K, deducing the Verdet constant of the material. The measurements were done on a sample of ZnO, grown by rf magnetron sputtering, with a thickness of approximately 198nm, and doped with magnetic ions of Co to a concentration of x=0.1 and co-doped with a 5.5% wt concentration of Al to be able to determine resistivity within the range allowed by the experimental assembly of the magneto-optical laboratory of Physics of the UPRM. The electrical resistivity of the sample was measured by the method of the four aligned points, in where contacts of silver and gold thread were used. The experimental results of the magnetoresistance have been interpreted implementing a phenomenological model based on semiclassic principles of multiband for a homogenous semiconductor, in where it was used the relaxation time approximation (RTA) and the exchange interaction theory. The experimental results of Faraday Effect were interpreted in terms of transitions of exciton intraband and ínterbanda and the theory of interaction of interchange. i.e. corresponding model is left for later studies.
