One of the great challenges of modern science is to understand the dynamics of cancer tumor growth. In this thesis we study cancer tumor growth with the nutrient competition model developed by Scalerandi et al. We incorporate into the model the interaction between cancer cells and lymphocytes. We study the dependence of various cells populations of relevance, such as cancer cells, healthy cells and death cells, on the parameters describing the lymphocytes. These parameters are the efficiency of lymphocytes in destroying cancer cells, the rate of growth of lymphocytes, and the mean lifetime of lymphocytes. We also incorporate into the model periodic treatment with cytokines or immunotherapy. We study the dependence of the cell populations of relevance on the parameters describing immunotherapy. These parameters are the dosage and the period of treatment.
