    Mapa de tipos de suelos y potencial de licuación para el municipio de Humacao, Puerto Rico

    This project describes the procedures used for the development and preparation of a map of type of soils for the town of Humacao using the provisions of the National Earthquake Hazard Research Program (NEHRP, 1997). This project also includes an analysis for the determination of the Liquefaction Potential Index using the simplified method Youd et al. (2001). The development of this project consisted in the characterization of the conditions of the existing subsoil in the town of Humacao using 665 borings that were given from the public and private agencies of Puerto Rico. In addition to it includes a database that has in it the information collected from the geotechnical studies founded, as the geographical location of each of them. Finally includes an analysis of liquefaction to identify the type of soil Sf. The analysis was made using the program Licuado PR (Sosa and Pando, 2003). Once the analysis was finished we proceed to the creation of a map of types of solid for the town of Humacao using ArcView 9.0 and Autocad 2002 programs. The soil map generated in this project is for exclusive use of the Insurance Commissioner Office of Puerto Rico. The maps can be used as a guide and do not intend to substitute project specific geotechnical investigations which are required for all civil engineering projects and developments in Puerto Rico.
