It is important that every organization with paid employees or voluntaries has an employee handbook since they serve as a communication tool between the organization and the employee. A well written and comprehensive employee handbook can rid the organization of future demands or claims of uncomfortable employees with assigned tasks or any penalty imposed. For this research a questionnaire was created which was intended to know how many non-profit organizations (NPOs) have an employee handbook. The questionnaire was also created to find out if the handbooks contained the essential and necessary information. Most of the organizations that participated in this research have an employee handbook, but it does not include all the relevant sections it should. A guide for the creation of an employee handbook with all components and laws which should serve as an effective employee handbook was designed.
