A research was performed to determine the susceptibility of the kenaf plant (Hibiscus cannabinus) in presence of certain pathogens commonly found in the soil. The effect of the nematode Meloidogyne incognita and the soilborne’s fungi Fusarium oxysporum, Rhizoctonia solani and Macrophomina phaseolina were evaluated. The interactions between the nematode and the soilborne fungi were also studied. Experiments were established in a greenhouse to determine the inoculum levels of Meloidogyne incognita required to cause damage to plants. For the experiment of Meloidogyne incognita, kenaf’s plants died with inoculum levels of 12,000 eggs/J2. In the experiment of the soilborne fungi, it was demonstrated that Fusarium oxysporum reduced the height of the kenaf’s plant; while Rhizoctonia solani resulted non pathogenic to the crop. The interaction between Meloidogyne incognita/Macrophomina phaseolina increased the weight of the kenaf’s roots; however the interaction Meloidogyne incognita/Fusarium oxysporum had the opposite effect.
