Therefore they are appropriate points to place monitoring systems and control of vehicles and pedestrians. An alternative for the solution of problems is the use of modern technology of communications (telematic). This technology allows the communication using video images on time real between the intersections and the control center, allowing the monitoring of what happens in each intersection, to process the information and then to implant the results in the traffic control devices of the intersection. Another alternative for the solution of the problem is the coordination of intersections. This task is carried out establishing communications among controllers of the intersections, a Master controller and the computer at the control center. The communication can be carried out by direct connection, telephone system, radio system and wireless system. Two prototypes were development in this project. The first one is for monitoring an intersection using wireless technology. The second prototype is to communicate the controllers of two intersections, a Master controller and the computer for its coordination study. This equipment was installed in the transportation laboratory located inside the building of Civil Engineering and Surveying and the pedestrian bridge of the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Civil Engineering and Surveying over highway PR-108. These prototypes are good teaching tools for the Civil Engineering students. Students will have the opportunity to operate this equipment to carry out studies of vehicle counts, vehicles speed measurements, coordination of intersections and programming of the control times of the systems of traffic signals of the intersection.
