Microorganismos presentes en la pared del tubo digestivo de Onychochaeta borincana (Oligochaeta: Glossoscolecidae)

Scanning electron microscopy was used to detect the presence of microorganisms on the internal intestinal surface of Onychochaeta borincana. The intestines of fourteen adult specimens were extracted, washed, and prepared through microscopy protocol. Samples from organisms exposed to sterile soil show similar microorganisms in their intestine than those not submitted to this cleaning treatment. Different microorganisms were observed. The presence of segmented filamentous bacteria was evident throughout the entire intestinal wall. Also, round and rod-shaped bodies were observed. Furthermore, non-characterized microorganisms with network arrangements were observed in the mucus of the epithelial tissue.
