Tallulah River Road located in Chattahoochee National Forest in North Georgia had some bridges with substandard load capacity that are structurally deficient. There would be no access to the people of Tate City, recreational use of the National Forest would decrease and for emergency responder. The Tallulah River Road project was developed with the help of different stakeholders that came together to form a multi-disciplinary team. Two new bridges were constructed to address the load capacity and structural deficiency, and new horizontal and vertical alignments were developed to address safety related issues, keeping the true value of the perception the way the community wanted the project.
