This research presents a mathematical model for the growth of a cancerous tumor, based on the cancer stem cell hypothesis and the research carried out by Vainstein, La Porta, Sellerio, and their respective collaborators. Rules are applied at the cellular level that generates a set of equations, which describes the development of a malignant neoplasm considering the existence and interaction of six cell populations: cycling cancer stem cells, non-cycling cancer stem cells, differentiated cancer cells, senile cancer cells, healthy cells, and dead cells. In addition, real values for the parameters of mean lifetimes and proliferation were investigated, and it was determined how it affects the variation of thresholds and cell fractions. Finally, a differentiation therapy and an induced senescence therapy were modeled in order to analyze tumor growth in four scenarios: when it is not subjected to any treatment, under the effect of one of the aforementioned therapies, and a combination of both.
