    This descriptive study was an attempt to determine what perspective the public high school counselors, of the Mayagüez Region had about the study of Agricultural Sciences as a studying alternative in the university. For this purpose a survey was conducted in which 22 counselors of 18 public schools had to answer a questionnaire. The study showed that the majority of that school counselors and vocational personnel of the Mayagüez Region are women. The study also showed that the age level is 47 years old and the majority of the school counselors don’t live in the municipality of Mayagüez. These have master’s degree in Orientation and Counseling and they have 12 - 16 years of experience in their profession. The school counselors reported to be in favor of the Agriculture and the Agricultural Industry. While they maintain a neutral attitude in relation to the Agricultural Science as an alternative in the university studies. These assured they felt insecure to orientate or recommend Agricultural Science as an alternative in professional studies. The school counselors identified some problems when coordinating activities related to the study of Agricultural Science. These are: lack of time and the poor help which the universities receive, the Department of Education, the students and the Agricultural Industry. Never the less, the counselors informed the students through pamphlets and catalogs that Agricultural Sciences is an alternative in their university studies. The school counselors require from the pertinent agencies, the necessary resources in order for them to offer orientation on the study of Agricultural Sciences.
