Publication High resolution sequence stratigraphy of Neogene, mixed carbonate-siliciclastic system, Los Haitises National Park, northeastern Dominican Republic(2015) Core Suárez, Elson E.; Ramírez, Wilson R.; College of Arts and Sciencies - Sciences; Santos, Hernán; Frankseen, Evan K.; Department of Geology; Corredor, Jorge E.A high-resolution sequence stratigraphy model for the Neogene limestone formations on the northeastern of Dominican Republic is presented, based on stratigraphy and recognition of exposure surfaces, using outcrops. Data obtained in this study, in addition to previous work, have been compiled to produce a more-detailed description, including lithofacies analysis. Five depositional sequences and four major sequence boundaries are proposed for middle Miocene to Pliocene time. These are: Depositional Sequence 1a (DS1a), Depositional Sequence 1b (DS1b), Depositional Sequence 2 (DS2), Depositional Sequence 3 (DS3), and Depositional Sequence 4 (DS4). These are most probably related to the second-order supercycles in terms of eustatic sea level changes (Haq et al., 1987). The outcrops studied in this research show a change from well developed-complete depositional cycles to partial cycles and exposure surfaces, representing the change from green-house to ice-house systems.
