The purpose of this study was to study the consumers profile in the college community at the UPR in Mayagüez, the Mayagüez region and metropolitan area of agricultural products of the local brands and logo: “DelPaís”, “Hecho en Puerto Rico” and “100% Cosecha y Crianza de Puerto Rico”. A total of 257 consumers from 40 different towns/cities of Puerto Rico were interviewed for this study. The same profile represented the majority of consumers of all three brands; women were the main consumers, between 18-28 years old and with a Bachelor’s or Post-Graduate degree. The main reason why consumers don’t buy local brands all the time is availability (42.1%). Price is the main factor (24.5%) when choosing between a private and a local brand, followed by quality (22.2%), freshness (17.3%) and flavor (11.6%).
