Estudio sobre las diferentes redes de distribución de las cooperativas comerciales de Puerto Rico

This exploratory study focuses on analyzing and improving the existing distribution network used by Commercial Cooperatives of Puerto Rico. This research has three main objectives as follows: 1) describing, studying, and analyzing the actual distribution networks of different Commercial Cooperatives of Puerto Rico; 2) evaluating and suggesting possible improvements that can be implemented at each of these networks; and 3) justifying future research in the distribution network and supply chain arena. Interviews with senior executives and documents provided by each cooperative were obtained to achieve the objectives of this research. The analysis considers several key operating decisions: 1) whether to open or expand a distribution center and 2) whether to channel materials (only through the distribution center or to allow a dual distribution). The analysis is performed by conceptual models.
