The main objective of this descriptive study was to determine the perception of business owners/managers of Mayagüez toward the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games. A questionnaire was created and given to 114 business owners/managers in several areas of the city of Mayagüez where the Games will take place. A Chi-Square statistical analysis was used to study six hypotheses. In general, a great majority of business owners/managers of Mayaguez have knowledge about the duration, activities and construction projects related to the events. The majority of business owners/managers who were part of the study expected profits to increase. The participants perceive that the 2010 Games will be beneficial to the city. The statistical analysis showed expectation of visitors, change in business profits and those industries perceived to be with a greater beneficial advantage, are not related to the type of industry that the participant is a part of.
