The increase in the operating frequency of radiofrequency on-wafer devices increases the complexity of making precise measurements as well as the amount of data generated in the measurements. For this reason, the characterization tools that until now carried out the entire process of measurement and characterization, present problems of working memory space to characterize new microwave devices. Furthermore, due to its non-modular design, it presents adaptability problems for new libraries and functionalities necessary for this purpose. This research presents an adaptable, evolutionary tool developed in MATLAB® that performs the extraction of radiofrequency parameters of RF devices by controlling instrumentation without working memory problems. The control of the instruments is done through data structures that in object-oriented programming (OOP) are known as objects. The properties and methods of the objects are described in extensible program code templates called 'classes' designed from scratch. On other hand, within the manufacturing process of on-wafer devices, wafer map files are used to have traceability in devices, measurements based on the data of a wafer map file are used as a diagnostic tool to find where exist more failures. It is for this reason that the tool developed also parses the parameters declared within the wafer maps files using regular expressions to then sort the retrieved parameters in a data structure known as structure array that shows the hierarchy of the data. In addition, this document describes current work on RF measurements and earlier work on RF instrumentation control and parameter extraction in MATLAB®. Finally, a comparison is made between the parameters extracted with the tool developed in MATLAB® and another industry-standard parameter extraction tool.
