This research introduced MacCormack numerical scheme for the solution of the governing equations of two-phase transient flow. The numerical solution included an analysis of the behavior of the wave velocity under adiabatic and isothermal behavior of the vapor cavity in the region of vaporous cavitation. The experimental results indicate a better prediction of the pressure pulses under adiabatic conditions. The effect of air inlet valves as flow control devices during transient flows was studied assuming isentropic and non-isentropic conditions. The results are significantly different from the observed physical response. Additional conditions from those found in the literature are necessary for an accurate simulation of the physical phenomenon. No experimental verification of the models proposed in this study was found in the literature, although, some of them appear in important publications on this topic. There are not conclusive arguments to establish which of the two models is more accurate; however, greater simplicity in the numerical manipulation was observed for the isentropic model. In general both models predict the magnitude of the maximum pressure of the first pulse accurately.
