    Adaptación del texto literario al texto cinematográfico de dos novelas policiacas negras del escritor puertorriqueño Wilfredo Mattos Cintrón: Las dos caras de Jano y Desamores

    This thesis analyzes the contrast between the literary narrative discourses of Puerto Rican author Wilfredo Mattos Cintrón's noir novels (detective novels): Las dos caras de Jano (1995) and Desamores (2001) against the cinematic narrative discourses of their filmic adaptations, whilst treating them both as independent products, of the literary texts, with their uniqueness and genuine value. The thematic progression of our investigation consists of an Introduction: in which we present and break down our subject under investigation and its developmental structure; Chapter I: where we define the term adaptation, present its controversies along with the factors that may impact the process, plus we display the typology of the adaptation; Chapter II: where we show both the similarities and the differences of the fictional literary narrative from the cinematic narrative, we inquire over their discursive resources, and summarize the characteristics within the narrative discourses of both the noir novel (detective novel) and film noir; Chapter III: we summarize the relevant information within the literary author's biography and bibliography, plus we examine the noteworthy characteristics of his narrative discourse; Chapter IV: where we analyze the adaptive process of the literary text to the cinematic text applying Jose Luis Sanchez Noriega's "Comparative Analysis and Text Adaptation Scheme"; and lastly the Conclusion.
