Publication Eficiencia comparativa de dos métodos de enseñanza de diseño paisajista a jóvenes FFA de la escuela Santiago R. Palmer del Barrio Quebrada de Camuy(2006) Martínez-Nieves, Carmelo; Villamil-Freytes, José A.; College of Agricultural Sciences; Santiago Andino, Edly; González Nolla, Juan F.; Padilla Vélez, David; Department of Agricultural Education; Lebrón Tirado, Ana M.The objective of this study was to determinate the comparative effectiveness of two different methods if teaching Landscape design. The population of the study were the members of the FFA Chapter of the Santiago R. Palmer School of Quebrada, Camuy, Puerto Rico. The study population was aleatorily divided in two groups of fifteen Future Farmer of American fellows each one. One group was exposed to the conference-discussion method, and the other to cooperative method. Both groups were trained during the same period of time and similar schedule. The two groups complete a pre-test and at the end of the trainings were completed, an achievement test simultaneously in the respective classroom oneself place. The trainings was on an unit of Landscape design. The group of students that participated of the conference-discussion method of teaching achieved an average score of 46.8. While those that participated of the cooperative method obtained an average scores of 48.1. The results were submitted to a “t” test and the value obtained from it was not statistically different. That mean that the conference-discussion methods and the cooperative learning method are equally effective to produce learning to students. Base on the study results it’s possible to recommend that both methods can be use to train youths in the secondary school at the intermediate level, for the Future Farmer of America competence in Landscaping design.
