Publication Evaluación de vermicomposta de café como medio alterno en la producción de pimiento tipo Cubanelle (Capsicum annuum L.)(2012) González-Santiago, Mayra E.; Librán-Salas, María del C.; College of Agricultural Sciences; González-Gill, Lizzette; Monroig Saltar, Francisco M.; Department of Crops and Agro-Environmental Sciences; Fernández Vivo, MargaritaA chemical and physical characterization of vermicompost from coffee pulp was conducted to determine nutriments content and its potential use as a substrate for germination when mixed with Pro-Mix ® and as growth substrate when mixed with soil. The electrical conductivity, the concentrations of N, P, K and the percentage of organic matter increased when we add the vermicompost while the pH decreased. The germination tests results shown that treatments that contained vermicompost had an adverse effect on germination of Capsicum annuum pepper. In the growth and development experiments of Capsicum annuum, it was observed that transplanted plants in treatments of 50% and 100% of vermicompost shown highest height, and more flowers and fruits production. The optimum size of peppers was obtained in treatments with 25% and 50% of vermicompost.
