Tomar; Department of Physics; Quiñones, WilfredoIn this thesis work the effect of doping LiMn2O4 spinel with Nd and Ce ions to enhance its electrochemical properties when used of in Ion-lithium batteries is reported.The pure spinel phase LiMn1.99M0.01O4, with (M = Nd, Ce), was synthesized by the route of chemical solution, and evaluated as a cathode material inside a HS Test Cell. The lithium is used as anode, and as electrolyte 1M of litio- hexaflurophosphate (LiPF6) diluted in dimethyl carbonate (DMC) and ethylene carbonate (EC) in a weight ratio of (1:1). The phase of the spinel structure in its pure form was characterized by the techniques of x-rays diffraction (XRD), and sweeping electronic microscopy of (SEM), with which the good morphology and crystallization this phase was corroborated. The presence of both peaks (oxidation-reduction) in the voltammogran cycle reveals the extraction of Li+ and its incorporation in the spinel structure. The characteristics of a good development of the charge-discharge were carried out in the range of 3.0 to 4.8 volts. With the initial load for the case of LiMn1.99Nd0.01O4 was around 116.4 mAh/g and after 25 cycles the material had a retention of 88.43% of the initial capacity on the other hand for LiMn1.99Ce0.01O4 it was around de146 mAh/g but after 25 cycles the material had a retention of hardly 54.6% of the initial capacity.
