    This research is based on Mayra Montero's novel, Como un mensajero tuyo. It consists of a phenomenological approach that emphasizes mainly on the existential conditions of the characters and the facts they experience. Love appears as a catalytic element inside the anguish the subjects suffer, and also as an agent of fatality and death. Particularly, in the case of Caruso, we establish a transmillenary relationship with Radamés, the main character of Giuseppe Verdi's opera, Aïda, to determine how this interpretation affects the particular behavior of the artist. The thesis also includes the researcher's perspective, and other commentaries, concerning the concepts of “consciousness” and “phenomenology”.
