Publication Restricted Estudio experimental del efecto de la impureza magnética, Pr, EN, MgB2(2015) Pacheco Cabrera, Elluz; Kim, Yong Jihn; College of Arts and Sciences - Sciences; Castellano Rodríguez, Dorial; Radovan, Henri A.; Department of Physics; Colón Reyes, OmarThis paper consists of an experimental study of the effect of magnetic and non- magnetic impurities in a superconductor MgB2 polycrystalline sample. There are many researches that explain that MgB2 can be easily prepared by the technique PIT. Likewise, there are investigations in which they observed how the magnetic and non-magnetic impurities in doped MgB2 increase their superconducting properties; these studies were performed only with magnetic impurities or only with non-magnetic impurities. But thanks to research conducted by Dr Yong-Jihn Kim, was achieved mixing both the magnetic and non-magnetic impurities in MgB2, their superconducting properties improved. Based in this motivation we started preparing samples of Mg0.88B2Pr0.05Zn0.07 and Mg0.90B2Pr0.05Al0.05 by liquid sintering. We fabricated samples with technique "powder in tube" (PIT), using stainless steel tubes. Structural analysis by X-ray diffraction (XRD) indicating the presence of the main phase which is the MgB2 and small peaks in a smaller proportion of MgO. The electrical characterization, R-T, shows a variation in the width of the critical temperature (Tc). These results successfully complete the first phase of the experimental study of the effect of magnetic and non- magnetic impurities.
