dc.description.abstract With the objective of controlling flower synchronization of the cultivar ‘Cortada’ of pigeon pea plants three experiments were conducted using three different plant growth regulators: gibberelic acid (GA3 and GA4), paclobutrazol (PBZ) and ethephon. They were applied directly to the soil and were used at different concentrations and combinations. In the first experiment the plants were treated with GA3 (10, 50 and 100 mg L-1), PBZ (10, 50 and 100 mg L-1) and ethephon (50, 500 and 1000 mg L-1). Compared to the control plants (74.63 cm), plant height was stimulated in the plants treated with ethephon 500 mg L-1 and GA3 10 mg L-1 (85.03 cm and 82.75 cm), even though it did not significantly affect internode length. Ethephon 500 mg L-1 (7.05 kg) was the only treatment that had a significant effect on the harvest fresh weight compared to the control plants (4.9 kg). In the second experiment the pigeon pea plants were grown in 5 gallons pots. The treatments were GA3 (100 and 500 mg L-1), PBZ (100 and 250 mg L-1), ethephon (500 and 1000 mg L-1), PBZ + GA3 (100+100 mg L-1) and PBZ + GA3 (250+500 mg L-1), PBZ + ethephon (100+500 mg L-1 and 250+1000 mg L-1), GA3 + ethephon (100+500 mg L-1 and 500+1000 mg L-1) and GA4 + ethephon (2.5 + 500 mg L-1). Compared to the control plants (94.16 cm) the ones treated with PBZ 250 mg L-1 (93.52 cm), PBZ 100 + GA3 100 mg L-1 (91.94 cm), GA3 500 mg L-1 (90.93 cm) and PBZ 250 + ethephon 1000 mg L-1 (84.17 cm) did not have significant differences in plant height. We were not able to observe flowering or were able to harvest, because the different treatments were unable to induce flowering. In the third experiment pigeon pea plants were treated with GA3 (500 and 1000 mg L-1), PBZ (250 and 500 mg L-1) and ethephon (500 and 1000 mg L- 1). The only plants that showed a significant height were the ones treated with PBZ 500 mg L-1(135.34 cm), compared to the control (129.19 cm). The plants treated with both concentrations of GA and the ones treated with ethephon 1000 mg L-1 had a tendency of having the highest number of flowers. None of the treatments showed significant effects in harvest fresh weight. en_US
dc.description.abstract Con el propósito de sincronizar la florecida en el cultivar de gandul ‘Cortada’ se realizaron tres experimentos, en los cuales se utilizaron tres reguladores de crecimiento: ácido giberélico (GA3 y GA4), paclobutrazol (PBZ) y etefón. Los mismos fueron aplicados al suelo y en diferentes concentraciones y combinaciones. En el primer experimento se trataron las plantas con GA3 (10, 50 y 100 mg L-1), PBZ (10, 50 y 100 mg L-1) y etefón (50, 500 y 1000 mg L-1). Las aplicaciones de etefón 500 mg L-1 y GA3 10 mg L-1 estimularon la altura de la planta (85.03 cm y 82.75 cm) comparado con el control (74.63 cm), sin embargo, esto no afectó la distancia de los entrenudos, la cual no fue significativa. El tratamiento de etefón 500 mg L-1 fue el único que obtuvo un peso fresco de vainas (7.05 kg) significativamente mayor al control (4.9 kg). En el segundo experimento se utilizaron plantas de gandul en tiestos de 5 galones y se aplicó GA3 (100 y 500 mg L-1), PBZ (100 y 250 mg L-1), etefón (500 y 1000 mg L-1), PBZ + GA3 (100+100 mg L-1 y 250+500 mg L-1), PBZ + etefón (100+500 mg L-1 y 250+1000 mg L-1), GA3 + etefón (100+500 mg L-1 y 500+1000 mg L-1) y finalmente GA4 + etefón (2.5 + 500 mg L-1). En comparación a las plantas control (94.16 cm) las tratadas con PBZ 250 mg L-1 (93.52 cm), PBZ 100 + GA3 100 mg L-1 (91.94 cm), GA3 500 mg L-1 (90.93 cm) y PBZ 250 + etefón 1000 mg L-1 (84.17 cm) no mostraron diferencias significativas en cuanto a altura de la planta. No se logró inducir la florecida de dichas plantas con ninguno de los diferentes tratamientos. En el tercer experimento se trataron las plantas de gandul con GA3 (500 y 1000 mg L-1), PBZ (250 y 500 mg L-1) y etefón (500 y 1000 mg L-1). Las únicas plantas que mostraron diferencias significativas en la altura promedio fueron las tratadas con PBZ 500 mg L-1(135.34 cm), en comparación con el control (129.19 cm). Las plantas tratadas con ambas concentraciones de GA y etefón 1000 mg L-1 tuvieron una tendencia a tener un mayor número de flores. en_US
