dc.description.abstract Through narrative inquiry, this research investigates how Graduate Teaching Assistants’ (GTAs) past experiences can help shape their current thoughts and beliefs on translanguaging and its usage inside their classrooms. Findings showcase that GTAs past experiences did play a role in influencing the teaching styles that they implement in their classrooms, which includes translanguaging practices they employ in their classes. Through narratives, this thesis also displays examples of translanguaging practices being executed in Puerto Rico’s education context. The participants’ narratives delved into the relationship between translanguaging and basic English courses in Puerto Rico. Moreover, the participants’ stories speak about the effectiveness of their translanguaging use and how it has impacted their teaching careers. en_US
