Necesidad de capacitación del maestro de educación agrícola de las regiones de Mayagüez, Ponce y San Germán en el área de educación especial

Abstract

The increase of exceptional children in the classroom has generated preoccupation with respect to the capacity of the teacher of Agricultural Education. This descriptive - correlacional study described the capacities demonstrated by teachers of Agricultural Education (AGED) of the Mayagüez, Ponce and San Germán Regions in the special education area to attend the registered exceptional students in the agricultural courses. The study designed a survey directed of the Agricultural Education teachers (N=47). The study demonstrated that majority of the AGED teacher have not participated in the following: Special Education courses, workshops and trainings. In addition, the majority of the teachers are interested in maintaining themselves informed on laws that benefit the exceptional student. Also, the more special education courses that teachers takes the greater the degree of safety that can be offered in agriculture classes. On the other hand, a positive strong relationship exists between the effective use of the components of the program for AGED’s teacher and the exceptional students’ participation of the program.

El aumento de niños excepcionales en los salones de clases en las escuelas públicas ha generado preocupación con respecto a la capacitación del maestro de Educación Agrícola. Por esta razón, el propósito de esta investigación descriptiva-correlacional fue describir las capacidades requeridas que el maestro de Educación Agrícola necesita en el área de educación especial para atender a los estudiantes excepcionales matriculados en el curso de agricultura de las Regiones de Mayagüez, Ponce y San Germán. En esta investigación se diseñó un cuestionario dirigido a los maestros de Educación Agrícola (N=47). El estudio demostró que la mayoría de los maestros de EDAG no han participado de cursos, talleres y adiestramientos de Educación Especial. La mayoría de los maestros le interesa en mantenerse informado de las leyes que benefician a los estudiantes excepcionales. Además, la mayor cantidad de cursos de educación especial que haya participado el maestro, aumentará el grado de seguridad al ofrecer las clases de agricultura. Por otro lado, existe una relación positiva entre la efectividad de uso de los componentes del Programa de Educación Agrícola y la participación de los estudiantes excepcionales en el programa.
