Abstract
Doris Sánchez is a teacher who has encountered several circumstances throughout the course of her career. With the current state of her retirement plan, she will not have enough money to support herself, let alone her two children, once she retires. It is described how her many experiences throughout her life reflect the significance she focuses on the education of rural Puerto Ricans.

Doris Sánchez es una maestra que ha experimentado diversas circunstancias en el curso de su carrera. Considerando el estado actual de su plan de retiro, ella no va a tener suficiente dinero para atender sus necesidades, menos aún las de sus dos hijos. Se describe cómo sus muchas experiencias de vida reflejan la importancia que ella le asigna a la educación de las personas puertorriqueñas que residen en las zonas rurales.
