dc.description.abstract | From an interdisciplinary perspective, this thesis will demonstrate that the novel Sol de medianoche by Edgardo Rodríguez Juliá can be read as a rebuttal allegation in which the author inserts himself in the tradition of the search for national identity, while trying to overcome traditional cultural models focused on a criollista, patriarchal and white representation of Puerto Rico’s national identity, as they were built in the Literary Generation of 30. The study focuses on the transgressive dialogue posed by the novel Sol de Medianoche with the central ideas of the essay Insularismo de Antonio S. Pedreira. In particular, the analysis stops in the constant allusions to the national and cultural agenda structured by the intellectuals of the 30, that according to Rodríguez Juliá, was failed and responsible for some of the social ills of the current Puerto Rico. | en_US |
| en_US |
