dc.description.abstractThis study was conducted to obtain consumers profile for beef in PR and know the tastes and preferences of consumers towards of PR’s beef. An instrument was designed and provided to 360 people in Mayaguez, Ponce and San Juan. The study showed that participants prefer chicken over beef. In addition, 84% of participants indicated that the cut of meat mostly consumed is ground beef, but participant’s preferred “churrasco” steak (skirt steak) and beef steak (bistec) with 31% and 30% respectively. Respondents indicated that they do not consume PR’s beef all the time (50%), because the price is higher, 31%. Furthermore 19% of participants would be willing to pay an additional 10¢ for PR beef, 18.3% would pay 25 ¢, 16.8% 50 ¢ and 15.4% 75 ¢.
dc.description.abstractEste estudio se llevó a cabo con el fin de levantar el perfil de los consumidores de carne de res de PR y conocer los gustos y preferencia de los consumidores hacia la carne de res de PR. Se diseñó un instrumento el cual fue suministrado a 360 personas de los municipios de Mayagüez, Ponce y Área Metropolitana. El estudio reflejó que los participantes prefieren la carne de pollo sobre la carne de res. Además, el 84% de los participantes indicaron que el corte de carne de res más consumido es la carne molida, pero prefieren el churrasco y el bistec con un 31% y 30% respectivamente. El 50% de los participantes indicó que no consumen carne de res de PR siempre, porque el precio es mayor, 31%. El 19% de los participantes estaría dispuesto a pagar 10¢ adicionales por carne de res de PR, 18.3% pagaría 25¢, 16.8% 50¢ y el 15.4% 75¢.
