dc.description.abstractThis work presents the study of two aspects of the performance of the CMS pixel detectors which are relevant to predicting their behavior under operating conditions. The first study quantifies the differences of the response of individual pixels to a calibration signal. The data was taken using X ray photon sources and it was analyzed using software wrote in C++ and ROOT. The precision of position measurements by the detector depends critically on understanding the relative response of pixels.The second study concerns the performance of the pixel silicon sensor exposed to high radiation doses of protons and pions and can be used to predict at what level of radiation exposure the detector will need to be replaced. It shows the main macroscopic changes by the sensors, specifically it work study the changes in the inverse current and changes of the depletion voltage.en_US
dc.description.abstractEste trabajo presenta el resultado de dos estudios orientados a comprender el comportamiento de los sensores del detector de píxeles del experimento CMS en las condiciones de operación. El primer estudio realizado con el fin de cuantificar las diferencias en la respuesta de los píxeles ante una señal de calibración llamada Vcal. Los datos han sido tomados utilizando fuentes de fotones de rayos X y analizados con software escrito en C++ y ROOT. El segundo estudio muestra los principales cambios macroscópicos sufridos por los sensores diseñados para el detector de píxeles al ser sometidos a altas dosis de radiación. Los sensores han sido expuestos a radiación directa de protones y piones. El estudio se centra en la determinación del voltaje de operación requerido y el incremento en las corrientes de fugas de los sensoresen_US
