dc.description.abstractPepper weevils (Anthonomus eugenii) were exposed to volatiles from Capsicun annuum, from five aromatic crops (Ocimum basilicum, Allium wakegi, Tagetes erecta, Plectranthus amboinicus and Cymbopogon citratus) and from mixes of C. annuum and each of the aromatic crops in a “Y” tube olfactometer. Volatiles from P. amboinicus, C. citratus and T. erecta were repellent to A. eugenii. Volatile of P. amboinicus + C. annuum, C. citratus + C. annuum and T. erecta + C. annuum were repellent. Contact of the weevils with the vegetative material from each aromatic crop and from C. annuum was evaluated at different times (5, 15, 30 and 60 min.) using Petri dishes. P. amboinicus, C. citratus, T. erecta and O. basilicum materials repel A. eugenii contact at all the times. C. citratus present a total repellency (0% contact) at all the times. The unique mix treatment which showed repellency to the contact with pepper passing 30 min. was C. citratus + C. annuum. A repellency to the contact with the aromatics of treatments P. amboinicus + C. annuum, C. citratus + C. annuum and T. erecta + C. annuum was shown at all the times.en_US
dc.description.abstractLos picudos del pimiento (Anthonomus eugenii) fueron expuestos a volátiles de Capsicum annuum, de cinco cultivos aromáticos (Ocimum basilicum, Allium wakegi, Tagetes erecta, Plectranthus amboinicus and Cymbopogon citratus) y a mezclas de volátiles de C. annuum y cada cultivo aromático en un olfatómetro de tubo “Y”. Los volátiles de P. amboinicus, C. citratus y T. erecta fueron repelentes a A. eugenii. Las mezclas de volátiles P. amboinicus + C. annuum, C. citratus + C. annuum y T. erecta + C. annuum fueron repelentes. El contacto de los picudos con el material vegetativo de cada cultivo aromático y de C. annuum fue evaluado en diferentes tiempos (5, 15, 30 and 60 min.) en platos Petri. Los materiales P. amboinicus, C. citratus, T. erecta y O. basilicum repelieron el contacto de A. eugenii en todos los tiempos. C. citratus presentó repelencia total (0% contacto) en todos los tiempos. La única mezcla que mostró repelencia al contacto con pimiento al pasar 30 min. fue C. citratus + C. annuum. Se presentó una repelencia al contacto con los cultivos aromáticos de los tratamientos P. amboinicus + C. annuum, C. citratus + C. annuum y T. erecta + C. annuum en todos los tiempos.en_US
