dc.description.abstractEste trabajo de tesis está encaminado a encontrar modelos para estimar e interpolar espacialmente algunos parámetros de la superficie de suelo, específicamente para la región de Puerto Rico, tales como temperatura, índice de vegetación, y humedad de suelo, siendo este último el de mayor interés en este trabajo. Se proponen dos modelos empíricos basados en Funciones de Transferencia para la estimación de humedad de suelo y se construyen los correspondientes algoritmos de interpolación espacial de estos parámetros usando como herramienta de programación los software MATLAB, C/C++ y FORTRAN principalmente. Los resultados muestran una aproximación al 86% usando datos observados de Raingauge , por otro lado una aproximación al 40% usando datos observados de Radar lo cual es bueno si se toma en consideración la resolución espacial del Radar (aprox. 5Km).en_US
dc.description.abstractThis thesis work is directed to find models and algorithms to estimate and interpolate some parameters of the land surface, especially for the Puerto Rico region. The studied parameters are: land surface temperature (LST), Vegetation Index (NDVI), and Soil Moisture, the last one being of the greater interest in this work for which two models based on Transfer Functions are proposed. The algorithms of spatial interpolation of these parameters are implemented using the software’s C/C++, FORTRAN and MATLAB. The results show a good approach of approximately 86% using Raingauge data, on the other hand an approach to 40% was obtained using Radar data which are good if the spatial resolution of the Radar is considered (aprox. 5Km).en_US
