dc.description.abstractThis thesis describes the architecture of an agent-based system to retrieve information resources for a higher education environment. An ontology representing documents used by students and faculty members is also described, where RDF-S (Resource Description Framework Schema) is used. The RDF-S recommendation offers terms that allow the representation of concepts, their relationships and their attributes, all of which formed the metadata. The architecture uses three types of agent (UserAgent, SearchAgent and OntologyAgent), where each agent is in charge of different tasks such as user interaction, ontology retrieval and metadata search. The prototype called oSEMA was development using this architecture, to recover information in a distributed environment. Tests were conducted to measure the execution time to process a request in two scenarios. As a result, a decentralized organization of agents with their own repositories RDF presents a better response time. Also, using this ontology to describe documents provided greater advantages.en_US
dc.description.abstractEsta tesis describe la arquitectura de un sistema basado en agentes para la recuperación de recursos de información en un entorno de educación. Se construyó una ontología en la cual se representan los documentos utilizados por estudiantes y profesores. Se utilizó el lenguaje Resource Description Framework Schema (RDF-S) para representar la ontología de documentos. En la arquitectura del sistema se desarrollaron tres tipos de agentes (UserAgent, SearchAgent y OntologyAgent) que se encargan de la interacción con el usuario, la recuperación de la ontología y la búsqueda de meta-datos. A base de esta arquitectura se desarrolló un prototipo llamado oSEMA para recuperar información en un entorno distribuido. Se realizaron pruebas para medir el tiempo de respuesta en dos escenarios. Se encontró que, una organización descentralizada de agentes con sus propios repositorios RDF presenta un mejor tiempo de respuesta. Además, resultó ventajoso usar esta ontología para describir y compartir los documentos.en_US
