dc.description.abstractComputer simulation is the tool of choice for developing and testing new technologies and techniques. It is also commonly used to help teach and train students and other professionals. The Masters project done is a network simulation program whose purpose is to develop and test current networking protocols and which will also help when teaching of people who are beginning to learn how to set up and configure computer networks with the aid of graphical computer interface (GUI). The implemented routing protocol used is Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) which is the most commonly used interior gateway protocol (IGP), but the network simulator could be updated and its functionality expanded by the addition of other network layer protocols and any other protocols of the other layers of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Reference Model upon their implementation.en_US
dc.description.abstractLos simuladores de computadoras son la herramienta preferida para desarrollar y probar nuevas tecnologías y técnicas. También son comúnmente usadas para enseñar y entrenar a estudiantes y otros profesionales. En este proyecto de maestría se hizo un programa que simula de redes de computadoras cuyo propósito es desarrollar y probar protocolos de redes actuales y también ayudar a personas que están empezando aprender a montar y configurar redes de computadoras con la ayudar de una interfase gráfica. El protocolo de enrutamiento simulado es “open shortest path first” (OSPF) cual es el protocolo interior más utilizado, pero este simulador de redes permite ser actualizado y su funcionalidad ser extendida con la adición de otros protocolos del nivel de redes y otros protocolos de otros niveles del modelo de referencia del sistema abierto de interconexiones una vez hayan sido implementados.en_US
