dc.description.abstractThis project explores models related to the concept of sustainable supply chain management. The main objective is to develop a conceptual model focused on the environmental aspect of the sustainability concept for an electronic components manufacturer located in Puerto Rico. The following steps were followed: 1) informal interviews with management personnel expert on policies and processes related to the company’s supply chain and environmental, health, and safety, 2) conduct a survey to determine the existence of policies and their knowledge by the personnel responsible for the execution of such policies, and 3) the use of sustainable supply chain models to develop the conceptual model for the company and offer suggestions and recommendations. The scope of the project did not consider the economic analysis for feasibility purposes as the management of the company will be responsible for this aspect of the study.
dc.description.abstractEste proyecto explora los modelos de gestión sostenible de la cadena de suministro. El objetivo principal es desarrollar un modelo conceptual para la cadena de suministro de una compañía que manufactura componentes electrónicos en Puerto Rico, enfocado en el aspecto ambiental del concepto de sostenibilidad. Para lograr este objetivo se realizaron tres pasos principales: 1) entrevistas informales al personal gerencial experto en las políticas y procesos de la cadena de suministro y los aspectos de salud, seguridad y medio ambiente, de la compañía, 2) realizar un cuestionario enfocado a identificar las políticas existentes y el conocimiento sobre las mismas, de parte del personal encargado de ejecutar dichas políticas y 3) utilización de modelos de gestión sostenible de la cadena de suministro para desarrollar el modelo conceptual y ofrecer sugerencias y recomendaciones. El estudio no tiene como alcance verificar la viabilidad económica de dichas recomendaciones, siendo esto responsabilidad de la compañía.
