Safety on roads and highways can be measured in terms of the number of traffic crashes that occur in a time period. Although there are many factors that could contribute to the occurrence of a vehicle crash, human factors are usually the most associated with a vehicle crash. Some of the common causes related to human factors that are associated with vehicle crash occurrence are distraction, reckless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.
