dc.description.abstract This study contains a critical analysis of Judith Ortiz Cofer‟s selected works. It offers a portrayal of a voice in the diaspora that successfully transcends the voice of victimization and empowers the uncertain position of minorities within the binaries of place, space and gender while depicting a unique Puerto Rican experience. This thesis examines how Ortiz Cofer‟s constant circular migration allows her not only to empower a voice in several interstitial spaces, but also, to represent how the individual deals with such spaces. en_US
