Publication Restricted Control de las oscilaciones de un péndulo variando la longitud de su cuerda(2005) Delgado Olortegui, Moises R.; Portnoy, Arturo; College of Arts and Sciences - Sciences; Rózga, Krzysztof; Gooransarab, Haedeh; Department of Mathematics; Walker Ramos, Uroyoán R.In this work we find an efficient method for stopping the pendulum’s oscillations, which is moving on a plane, by variations in the pendulum’s length. This strate- gy was found casting the problem as an optimal control problem. We deduce the pendulum’s governing equations and using the Pontryagin’s Principle [3] we find optimal solutions to this problem. Using a similar analysis we find strategies to stop the pendulum’s oscillations which is moving in the space. We show graphically the effectiveness of ours strategies and make analytical and numerical comparisons.
