In this work we have carried out a study of the growth of a cancer tumor using computer simulation, implementing a model for the competition of nutrients. This model was extended by incorporating the interaction of the tumor with the natural immunological response of the immune system. To accomplish this we considered the chemotactical diffusion of lymphocytes in the tissue. We carried out simulations in order to show the tumor behavior with the immunological interaction, systematically evaluating all the parameters that intervene in the interaction between the tumor and the immune response, such as: diffusion coefficient, generation, absorption, and mean lifetime for the messengers; as well as for the interaction of the lymphocytes we studied the parameters related to the diffusion, efficiency, mean lifetime and chemotactic factor. Then we incorporated a treatment with a biological therapy, using a periodic dosification with cytokines, that looks to improve the natural response of the immune system. For the addition of treatment we studied different forms of therapy, as well as different functional parameters that characterize the therapy such as the amount of dose provided and the period of the application. Finally, we implement a therapy based the most optimal results, in which we considered the blocking of the migration of cancer cells by determined concentrations of lymphocytes in the tissue. We present graphical results of the simulations for populations of cancer, healthy, and death cells under the different cases studied: natural immune response, biological treatment and optimizations of therapy.
