Publication Study of correlation in random telegraph signal noise(2012) Francisco-Fernández, Luis S.; Jiménez-Cedeño, Manuel; College of Engineering; Serrano, Guillermo; Rodríguez, Domingo; Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Ríos-López, IsabelThis thesis presents an analysis method used to obtain a noise model that estimates low frequency noise (LFN) in metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) transistors. The analysis method provides a replicable and systematic procedure to extract the parameters for the model. This model includes factors for potential correlations among noise sources. The design and implementation of an automation process to perform noise measurements is also described. This allows for studying the effect of including factors for potential correlation in noise estimation. The correlation factors include the potential interaction between internal noise sources, and between the device under test (DUT) and the measurement circuit, in a low frequency (LF) bandwidth. The model and the parameter extraction procedure were validated by comparing simulation data with experimental measurements. The effect of the correlations was determined by comparing simulation results with and without correlation against experimental measurements. To support the results of this comparison an experimental correlation analysis was performed. The correlation analysis and the comparison results showed that the effect of correlations in the low frequency noise estimation is insignificant, and does not improve the noise estimation.
