The main objective of this research was to evaluate debt management of university students at the University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez through credit card usage. Also, to identify the behavior and socioeconomic characteristics that affects the propensity of credit cards usage among university students. For this, a questionnaire was administered to twenty eight different math sections, given that every student at Campus should take at least one math course. Findings from this research demonstrate that civil status, being in the labor force and being financially independent are factors that influences in the possession and use of credit cards.
