Publication Conjunto de productividad para problemas de análisis envolvente datos(2004) Beltrán Ballesteros, Viviana A.; Vásquez Urbano, Pedro; College of Arts and Sciences - Sciences; Acuña, Edgar; Saito, Tokuji; Department of Mathematics; Cedeño, José R.Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) developed by A. Charnes, W Cooper and E. Rhodes, is a non-parametric method, based on linear programming. DEA is used to measure the productivity and the relative efficiency of units of organization such as schools, hospitals, banking branch offices, etc., that utilize multiple resources to produce multiple products. The main goal of DEA is to find a frontier of efficiency, formed by those combinations of resources that optimize the quantity of products manufactured minimizing the costs of production, and from this frontier, to evaluate the relative efficiency of the combinations of resources that do not belong to the same one. The bounded set by the frontier of efficiency is called production set. This set is determined uniquely by a system of advanced postulates. Studying the production set that are obtained by solving the problem using DEA models, it is observed that the production regions are not bounded, therefore these sets contain a great number of combinations of resources, which are not always considered. In this work, form to bound the production set of problems resolved using DEA and will be shown a method for measuring the efficiency of the Decision Unit Making (DMU) will be illustrated.
