dc.description.abstract | Data from high-dimensional and functional are becoming more important in prediction’s problem nowadays, due to technical advances that allow their gathering and handling. This type of data appears frequently in Medicine and Chemometrics. For this reason its study is increasing . Traditionally, the solution of these prediction problem was carried out using parametric regression models. Whereas, the traditional mathematical methods study functions as mathematical objects, taking into account their properties and theoretical foundations on a parametric sense, Ferraty and Vieu [7]studied all this theory in a non-parametric context, creating their own non-parametric models and extending traditional methods but in a non-parametric way.It is of interest to make a broad literature review of (Functional Data Analysis)FDA until the present and to study further these different approaches seeing their similarities and differences and envisioning possible interactions. In this last part we will put special attention to the use of non-parametric methods with functional data in the context of the prediction problem.
