| dc.description.abstract | Carmen is 63 years old. Some years ago, she had to go to a doctor because some knee pain. She got a bone plaque done and the results showed that she needed a surgery. Everything went well until she started having complications. Her doctor didn’t tell her about compression socks and how her recovery could be affected because of them. When she asked him about it, he said she didn’t need them. Carmen suffered from a pulmonal emboli because of this; and had to remain hospitalized. She recovered and after some more tests, medical appointments, and medication she lives a more stabilized life. Currently, she lives with a lot of health issues and a daily medication routine with different types of pills. Even though she is better, her life is completely different as for what she was expecting in her future. | en |
| dc.description.abstract | Carmen tiene 63 años. Hace algunos años, tuvo que ir a un médico debido a un dolor de rodilla. Le hicieron una placa ósea y los resultados mostraron que necesitaba una cirugía. Todo iba bien hasta que empezó a tener complicaciones. Su médico no le contó sobre los calcetines de compresión y cómo su recuperación podría verse afectada debido a ellos. Cuando ella le preguntó al respecto, él dijo que no los necesitaba. Carmen sufrió de una embolia pulmonar debido a esto; y tuvo que permanecer hospitalizada. Se recuperó y después de algunas pruebas más, citas médicas y medicamentos, vive una vida más estabilizada. Actualmente, vive con muchos problemas de salud y una rutina diaria de medicamentos con diferentes tipos de píldoras. A pesar de que está mejor, su vida es completamente diferente en cuanto a lo que esperaba en su futuro. | es |
